Speech Therapy for adults

A stroke or another neurological condition can suddenly change the way a person speaks, understands, reads, or swallows. Sometimes the words simply won't come. At other times, they come out wrong. Sometimes the person knows exactly what they want to say, but something blocks the path between thought and word.

This is not a permanent loss. The brain has the capacity for recovery—and specialized speech therapy is one of the most effective tools supporting that recovery.

How we help

We work with adults who, following a neurological event, are facing:

Language disorders (aphasia)
  • Difficulty finding words or forming sentences
  • Problems understanding speech or written text
  • Reading or writing difficulties
Speech disorders (dysarthria)
  • Unclear, slow, or hard-to-understand speech due to muscle weakness
Swallowing disorders (dysphagia)
  • Difficulty swallowing, risk of aspiration
Voice disorders
  • Changes in voice quality, intensity, or control

Why timing matters

Neurological recovery is more effective when speech therapy begins as soon as possible after the neurological event. However, the benefits of therapy do not disappear after the first few months—progress is possible even years after the onset.

If you are unsure whether it is the right time or if speech therapy can help with your loved one's specific situation, the best first step is an assessment. We will give you an honest assessment of what is possible.

What the process looks like

1

Initial assessment

  • We begin with a detailed assessment of language, speech, and swallowing—to understand exactly which areas are affected and what resources are available. The assessment is tailored to the patient's energy level and current capabilities.

2

Individualized therapy plan

  • Based on the assessment, we create a specific work program—exercises, techniques, and clear goals tailored to each person's pace.

3

Therpay

  • The sessions are structured yet flexible. We also involve the family whenever possible—a family member who knows how to support the exercises at home significantly accelerates recovery.

4

Continuous re-evaluation and adjustment

  • Progress is constantly monitored. The therapy plan is adjusted based on progress.
